Santal woman murdered in Dinajpur

A woman from indigenous Santal community has been murdered in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur.
The deceased was identified as Bishani Pahan, 53, an agricultural worker and resident of Benupur village under the upazila.
Her body was recovered from a paddy field in the upazila yesterday morning, with her hands and legs found tied up.
Confirming the matter, Monjurul Islam, assistant superintendent of police (Birampur Circle), said Bishani left her home for work on Friday but did not return later.
Locals of neighbouring Daudpur village found her body in paddy field and informed police. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the ASP also said.
A case will be filed in this connection, he added.
